Privacy & Security
In order for a VPN to be worth our time, its privacy and security features must be up to snuff. Does VyprVPN have a clear privacy policy, and does it work to uphold this privacy policy? Keep on reading to find out:
Is VyprVPN safe:
Overall, this Golden Frog VPN is quite safe. It offers users top-level military-grade encryption, which keeps user data activity encrypted and hidden from any hackers or prying eyes. This way, even if a third party may be able to get his hands on your Internet traffic, it will be totally indecipherable.
VyprVPN also has a Kill Switch, which is a feature we like to see in any serious VPN on the market. A Kill Switch is used to make sure your source IP address and traffic are not leaked in the event that your VPN cuts out; and a NAT Firewall is used to help block malware.
VyprVPN also has a cool proprietary feature called the Chameleon protocol that can help keep your VPN traffic hidden in heavily censored countries, preventing throttling, deep packet inspection, or VPN blocking.
When we tested VyprVPN for leaks, none were detected, so we give this VPN a thumbs up for safety.
Encryption:
Like the other top VPN services on the market, VyprVPN uses the top encryption standards to keep your information and traffic secure. Even though this VPN uses AES 256-bit military-grade encryption and protection against DNS leaks, it also offers users the choice to use the split tunneling feature, which lets you send some of your apps through online encryption while other apps stay out of the encrypted tunnel.
VyprVPN also offers perfect forward secrecy, ensuring that the encryption and decryption keys are changed frequently so that your data cannot be easily compromised.
Kill Switch:
VyprVPN has an automatic Kill Switch that will protect your privacy online in the event that your VPN connection drops unexpectedly, so you are never left hanging online without protection. This is especially important in heavily censored countries.
The Kill Switch on VyprVPN is not enabled by default, so if you want this to be active, you will need to go into the app to change this setting.
